This past Wednesday night the ladies of the Blue Highway management team were treated to a wonderful night out. The girls, Layla, Shanna, Winny(MOM)and myself, Alex, got dressed up for a delicious dinner and a 3D showing of Carmen. Carmen is a French opera by Georges Bizet and tells the story of Carmen, a gypsy woman with a fiery temper. Carmen woos the inexperienced soldier, Don Jose, and convinces him to desert the army and run away with her to join a band of smugglers. Don Jose’s jealousy grows as Carmen’s love cools, as she falls hard for the bullfighter, Escamillo… While the experience of seeing – and specifically, hearing – an opera is probably best in an actual theater, it was still a great performance and one I would recommend to anyone with an interest in the opera. Try and catch a showing at Regal Cinemas. The showing runs for three hours, with a twenty minute interval between Act II & Act III. Do what we did. Get dressed up and make it a fun night on the town!
